Great Sand Dunes National Preserve hunt

Located in the eastern portion of the San Luis Valley in GMU 82 near the Great Sand Dunes National Preserve, this roughly 32,000-acre region is home to the well-known “Sand Dunes Herd,” recognized for strong elk numbers and the consistent production of quality bulls. We offer fully guided 5-day archery and rifle hunts, recommending hunters arrive one to two days early to access camp and settle in, with departure the day after the final hunt. Access is strategically customized based on elk location, terrain, and client ability, and may include horseback pack-in camps, ATV-supported camps, or truck-accessible base camps—some of which are fully off-grid and require a two- to eight-hour ride depending on current elk movement. Hunting elevations range from 8,500 to 12,000 feet, featuring classic Colorado elk habitat including aspen groves, dark timber, open parks, and deep drainages. Camps vary from comfortable wall tents to remote spike camps, all designed for safety and functionality. Each day begins before daylight with guides preparing breakfast and organizing gear before heading out for primarily on-foot hunting tailored to real-time elk activity, followed by evenings back at camp with dinner and planning for the next day’s pursuit.

White river national forest Hunt

Located in GMUs 35, 36, and 361 within the White River National Forest, this hunt covers more than 50,000 acres of rugged, secluded national forest that is home to thriving elk herds and quality mule deer populations. The terrain is steep, remote, and physically demanding—true Western mountain country built for serious hunters. We offer fully guided 5-day archery and rifle hunts with flexible camp options including truck-access base camps, ATV-supported camps, and traditional horseback pack-in spike camps. This versatility allows us to position hunters based on animal movement, terrain conditions, and client ability. Elevations range from 8,000 to 12,500 feet and feature classic high-country habitat including dark timber, aspen groves, deep drainages, and open alpine meadows. Hunters should plan to arrive one to two days early to access camp and acclimate, and depart the day after the final hunting day if pursuing the full five days. Hunting is conducted primarily on foot, with strategic use of horseback or ATV access when applicable. Each day begins before daylight with breakfast and gear preparation before heading into prime elk and mule deer country, and evenings conclude back at camp with hot meals and planning for the next day’s pursuit. This unit offers an outstanding opportunity for a true Western combo hunt targeting both trophy elk and mature mule deer.
